	Description:
Neglected tropical diseases (NTDs) are a diverse group of conditions of parasitic, bacterial, viral, fungal and non-communicable origin. They cause pain and disability, creating lasting health, social and economic consequences for individuals and societies. They prevent children from going to school and adults from going to work, trapping communities in cycles of poverty and inequity. People affected by disabilities and impairments caused by NTDs often experience stigma within their communities, hindering their access to needed care and leading to social isolation.  WHO recommends five core strategies to tackle the burden of NTDs: preventive chemotherapy, individual disease management, vector control, veterinary public health and water, sanitation and hygiene (WASH) within a systemic and cross-cutting approach. Data available in this portal help to monitor global and country progress towards achieving the targets for control and elimination, as defined by the new WHO road map 2021-2030. Neglected tropical diseases road map 2021-2030Neglected tropical diseases elimination mapNumber of people requiring interventions against NTDs
